In this issue, we have an update from Asmelash Dagne and reports from Angus Soutar on the PDC at Todmorden.

Asmelash Dagne (DipPermDes) writes:

Greetings from the hottest region of Ethiopia.

We are working on a project to establish a food garden to feed volunerable community members and supply the surplus to the market.

Editor's note: It has been six years since Asmelash visited us and gained his diploma from our North Britain Institute. He is in demand as a permaculture trainer and energy consultant in Ethiopia and in Germany. You can contact him through the Northern School alumni telegram group.

PDC at Todmorden Community Hub

There is some pleasure in working at "Tod College". It's a well-designed, purpose-built study space. Todmorden Community Hub is proving a great venue and it's good to feel part of a community.

We have a good team working in Todmorden. Every year the course gets better, and we all seem to be learning in so many different fields.

News in brief

The local food group in Darwen has said goodbye to one of its most energetic founders, Vicky Leeming, who has gone with her wonderful family to live and grow in Australia. We will mss her, but as the old saying goes, our loss is the Aussie's gain.

We want to thank Vic for all her work in the town, as she moved on from retail at Freedom Organics to developing the neighbourhood education centre at Garden Village.
